How to keep the weight off!

Let’s say you’ve stayed committed to an effective weight loss plan and now its time for maintenance.

How do you ensure you keep the weight off? How do you avoid the Yo-Yo effect? Here are some easy tips:

Eat at regular intervals. Never go longer than 3-4 hours without fueling your body, even in small amounts.  Skipping meals can slow your metabolism down -  and can cause overeating later in the day, especially giving nighttime cravings.

  1. Weigh yourself daily. A daily weight-in may seem like overkill but research shows the method is more effective than getting on the scales once a week – or never!

  2. Keep a food journal. If you write down everything you eat and drink throughout the day you will be much more accountable – and if you start to creep up in weight you can see where the deviations began to happen, and make corrections. Make sure you include the time of day you eat.

  3. Go for exercise!  Even a twenty-minute walk each day will do wonders for weight maintenance, and for your general health and well-being. If your work is so intensive that you can’t get out for even a brief interval of exercise, you may want to look at your work-life balance…    If you do moderate to aggressive exercise, be sure you are eating the right kind and quantity of protein each day. Otherwise, you are likely to burn down muscle (= increased fat).

  4. Follow the guidelines your BonVie coach gave you for a nutritional balance of protein, vegetables, limited carbs, fruits and dairy, and hydration.
